Panel Interview
A panel interview places several interviewers in one conversation so they can assess different aspects of a candidate at the same time.
A panel interview involves multiple interviewers speaking with one candidate in the same session. Panelists may represent the hiring manager, future colleagues, partner teams, or specialists responsible for different parts of the role.
Questions may move quickly between topics, and panelists may take notes while others speak; address the person who asked the question first, then include the rest of the group through natural eye contact. Do not assume a quiet panelist is uninterested; learn the names and roles in advance when the employer provides them. Prepare examples that show work across different concerns, such as technical judgment, collaboration, customer impact, and delivery; a concise STAR example can keep the answer clear for several listeners; candidates should answer the person who asked while including the full group through eye contact and should note each panelist’s role before sending follow-up messages.
For example, a candidate may answer a product question from a manager while a future teammate listens for collaboration details.
