Export your resume from Democruit only after you have reviewed the content and previewed the layout. Choose the file format requested in the job application, then open the downloaded file to make sure it reads as intended.

Export the file

  1. Open the completed resume in Democruit.
  2. Preview the document and resolve any page breaks, typos, or missing content.
  3. Choose Export or Download.
  4. Select the file format requested by the employer, when that option is available.
  5. Save the file with a clear name, such as Avery-Lin-Product-Manager-Resume.pdf.

Choose a format

Follow the application instructions first. A text-based PDF is often a reliable format because it preserves the visual layout. If an employer asks for DOCX, submit DOCX. Do not change formats just because one is commonly recommended.

Check the exported document

Open the downloaded file on your computer. Read the first page, then scan every section for clipped text, broken bullets, incorrect links, and inconsistent dates. Select a paragraph of text to confirm the document contains selectable text in a normal reading order.

Name and store the file clearly

Use a file name that identifies you and the target role, for example Avery-Lin-Operations-Analyst-Resume.pdf. Avoid names such as resume-final-final because they make it easy to attach the wrong version later. Store the exported file beside the job description or in a clearly labeled application folder.

Do not overwrite the editable base resume with an exported file. Keep the source version so you can make a targeted copy for the next role. If you notice a correction after export, update the source, export again, and reopen the new file before submitting it.

If an application rejects the file

First, check the file type, file-size limit, and any naming or upload instructions. If the employer asks for DOCX, do not submit a PDF instead. If the application has a plain-text field, paste from a clean text version and review the reading order. When the system gives a specific error message, follow that message before trying unrelated formatting changes.

If the upload continues to fail, try a fresh export and a current browser. Keep your editable version intact while troubleshooting. You can also contact the employer through the application channel when the deadline is near and the problem is clearly technical.

Take a screenshot of any error and record the time it occurred. That gives support staff useful detail without requiring you to send sensitive resume information unnecessarily.

Once the export succeeds, reopen the submitted version one final time. Confirm the file name, page count, and target role before completing the application form.
