Resume Objective
A resume objective states the role or direction a candidate seeks and is useful only when it adds focused context supported by evidence.
A resume objective is a brief statement describing the role or professional direction a candidate wants. Traditional objectives often focus on what the applicant hopes to gain, which gives the employer little evidence.
An objective may clarify a specific internship target, career change, return to work, relocation, or other transition; it should connect the goal to relevant preparation. Weak: Seeking a challenging role with opportunities for growth; More useful: Accounting graduate seeking an entry-level audit role, with internship experience preparing reconciliations and testing expense documentation. The second version names a direction and gives the reader evidence to verify below; a resume objective differs from a resume headline, which is only a professional label; it earns space only when it resolves a real question about direction, such as an internship target, career change, return to work, or relocation.
For example, an accounting graduate can name an entry-level audit target and briefly connect it to relevant internship work.
