Job Offer
A job offer states proposed employment terms such as role, pay, start date, location, and conditions, which should be reviewed before acceptance.
A job offer is an employer's proposal to hire a candidate under stated terms. It may be verbal or written and can include the title, compensation, benefits, location, schedule, start date, reporting line, and conditions that must be completed.
A salary figure is only one part of an offer; check whether compensation is hourly or annual, how bonuses or equity work, which benefits apply, and whether the role is permanent, temporary, or contract. Confirm details that differ from the interviews; some offers are conditional on steps such as a background check, reference check, proof of credentials, or work authorization. A conditional offer is not the same as a final confirmation that every requirement has been completed; ask for important terms in writing and request a reasonable review period when needed.
For example, a written offer may state base salary, bonus eligibility, start date, work location, and a condition requiring a background check.
