Education Section
The education section records relevant degrees, schools, training, and academic details with emphasis adjusted to your career stage and target role.
An education section is the part of a resume that lists relevant degrees, diplomas, schools, programs, and selected academic details. Its position and depth depend on how strongly education supports the target role.
At minimum, name the credential, institution, and location when useful; add a graduation date when it helps explain your stage or the employer requests it. Students and recent graduates may include relevant coursework, honors, a strong GPA, thesis work, or academic projects; experienced applicants usually reduce those details as professional evidence becomes stronger. Do not list a degree as completed if it is still in progress; use wording such as “Expected May 2027” when accurate; students may add relevant coursework, honors, projects, or a strong GPA, while experienced applicants usually reduce academic detail as professional evidence becomes stronger.
For example, a student may list relevant coursework and an expected graduation date, while an experienced applicant may show only the completed credential.
