Connect Democruit to Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini
Connect Democruit to Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini through the app menus, review account access, and try your first resume or job-search task.
To use Democruit in Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini, add it through your AI app's connection settings, sign in to Democruit, and review the requested access. Then select Democruit in a conversation and ask it to review a resume you choose. You can complete the setup through the app menus without writing code.
The connection is called MCP. It lets your AI assistant work with your Democruit documents and job-search records. You can ask for suggestions, request supported changes, and check the results in Democruit. For a plain explanation of what the connection can do, read how Democruit works with your AI assistant.
Step 1: Copy the Democruit connection address
When your AI app asks for a server address or connection URL, enter https://mcp.democruit.com/mcp.
Copy the complete address, including the final /mcp. Paste it into the connection settings, rather than the conversation itself. The address tells the AI app where to find Democruit; you will sign in separately to connect your account.
Step 2: Add Democruit in your AI app
Follow the section for the app you use. Menu names can change, so use the linked official instructions if your screen looks different.
Claude
- Open Customize, then Connectors.
- Select + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Democruit and paste the connection address from Step 1.
- Continue through the connection prompts and choose to sign in. If asked how Claude identifies the connection, choose Register automatically.
- Finish adding the connector, sign in to Democruit, and review the access request.
- In a conversation, open the + menu, choose Connectors, and enable Democruit.
For a work account, your organization may need to add Democruit before you can connect it. Ask the person who manages your AI workspace if the option is missing. See Claude's connector instructions for the current menus and availability.
ChatGPT
- Open Plugins in ChatGPT.
- Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter Democruit as the name and a short description, such as "Work with my Democruit resumes and job tracker."
- Under Connection, choose the public address option and paste the address from Step 1.
- For account access, choose OAuth, the option that opens Democruit sign-in. Read the connection notice, then choose Create as a plugin.
- Complete Democruit sign-in and review the requested access when prompted. Install the resulting plugin.
- Start a conversation, type @ in the message box, and select Democruit.
Custom connections depend on your ChatGPT account and workspace settings. If the option is missing or the labels differ, check ChatGPT's connection instructions.
Gemini
Add Democruit through the Gemini web app. After connecting, you can use it in Gemini on the web and mobile.
- On your computer, open Gemini.
- Open Settings, then Connected Apps. If needed, open Personal Intelligence first to find Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app or use the field for adding an app link.
- Paste the Democruit connection address from Step 1 and select Next.
- Follow the prompts to sign in to Democruit and review access.
- In a conversation, type @ and select Democruit to use it for your request.
Google currently offers custom apps in English to adults in the US using a personal Google account with Keep Activity on. Work and school accounts are not supported. Check Gemini's custom app instructions for current availability.
Step 3: Check the account and requested access
When Democruit asks you to approve the connection, check the account you are signed in to and the name of the assistant requesting access. If either is wrong, stop and correct it before continuing.
Read the permissions shown on the screen. Access to view documents allows the assistant to work with their contents. Access to make changes can allow it to save edits or create supported records. A request to delete a document still needs your confirmation in Democruit. Your AI app may also ask you to approve changes in the chat.
A message asking for a summary does not reduce the permissions requested during setup. For example, the connection may ask to view and edit resumes even if you only plan to review one today. Decline if you do not want that access. If your AI app lets you narrow the permissions, adjust them there and reconnect.
Setup is complete when the assistant can work with the document you intended.
Step 4: Try a task you can check
Start with a request to view something you already know. Ask: "List my Democruit resumes so I can choose one to review." Select the intended document, then ask for a summary of its experience and skills.
Compare that summary with the resume in Democruit. Check the title, employers, dates, and qualifications. This confirms that the assistant is working with the right document before you ask it to make changes.
If the assistant cannot find it, check the signed-in account and whether Democruit is enabled in the conversation. If it shows only part of your resume list, ask it to continue. If the issue remains, use the connection and access help article.
Example 1: Improve a resume bullet
Nadia has a general resume and a version for customer support. She first asks the assistant to list them, then selects the customer support version. Her next request is: "Review the experience section in this resume. Suggest clearer wording for the bullet I choose, using only the facts already there. Show me the suggestion before saving anything."
She checks the wording for accuracy. A clearer sentence should not add an employer, qualification, responsibility, or result that she cannot support. If the suggestion changes the meaning, she asks for a revision and explains which facts must remain.
Once satisfied, she asks: "Save this wording to the selected bullet in my customer support resume." She opens that resume in Democruit and checks the update. Seeing a suggestion in the conversation alone does not mean it has been saved.
For help choosing which experience to emphasize, use the guide to tailoring a resume to a job description.
Name the document, describe the task, and say whether you want a suggestion or a saved edit.
Example 2: Prepare a job application
Luis selects an existing resume and provides the job description for a role he wants. He asks: "Use this resume and job description to create a tailored resume and matching cover letter. Use only my existing career facts. Let me review the results."
He reads both documents before using them. He checks that they name the right role and employer, retain accurate experience, and support the claims made in the letter. He corrects anything that is missing or overstated.
Next, he asks the assistant to add the role to his Democruit job tracker and attach the documents. He checks the company, role, and application details in Democruit. Adding a tracker record does not submit an application to the employer.
Luis completes the application through the employer's application page himself. If he asks the assistant to draft a follow-up email later, he reviews and sends it through his own email app. The Democruit connection prepares email content; it does not send emails.
Common setup mistakes
- Copying an incomplete address. It is easy to miss the end when copying a link. Use the complete address from Step 1, including the final /mcp, and paste it into the connection settings.
- Stopping after adding Democruit. A saved connection can still need sign-in or permission approval. Complete the prompts, then test it with one selected resume before requesting edits.
- Using the wrong account. This can happen when another Democruit account is already signed in. Check the account shown during setup. If the documents are unexpected, reconnect using the intended account.
- Approving access without reading it. The request may allow more than the task you have in mind. Read the displayed permissions and decline if they do not match the access you want.
- Leaving the document unclear. Similar resume titles can cause confusion. Ask for the list, choose one version, and refer to that version throughout the task.
- Assuming a suggestion is a saved change. Improved wording in chat may still be a draft. Ask explicitly for a saved update when you want one, then check the document in Democruit.
- Reconnecting when a feature allowance is exhausted. A plan-related message concerns feature use rather than setup. Check your account usage and Democruit pricing for current features and allowances before deciding what to do.
Best practices after connecting
Work on one document or application at a time until you are comfortable with the connection. Give the assistant the job description and tell it which experience to use. Ask for suggestions first when you want to compare wording before making a change.
Review results for factual accuracy, especially names, dates, qualifications, and achievements. If you supply new information, make the correction explicit. Keep checking saved changes in Democruit rather than relying only on the assistant's description of what happened.
An assistant with access to read resumes can receive their contents, including contact details and work history. Choosing a resume in a message identifies the document for that task; the connection's access can cover other resumes in your account too. Democruit and your AI app have separate privacy policies, so review both before sharing information you consider sensitive. See the Democruit Privacy Policy.
If you stop using an assistant, open Democruit settings, find it under Connected agents, and select Revoke access. This stops its future access through that connection. Information already received by the AI app is handled through that app's history and privacy controls.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to write code to connect?
No. Use the connection menus in your AI app, enter the Democruit address, and follow the sign-in prompts. Availability depends on your AI app and account settings, so check its current instructions if a menu option is missing. Once connected, you can ask for supported tasks in ordinary language.
Can the assistant change my documents?
It can make supported changes when you grant the necessary access. Read the permissions during setup, and say clearly whether you want a suggestion or a saved edit. Some edits can be saved directly, while requests to delete documents require your confirmation in Democruit. Check the final document after a saved change.
Will it send emails or submit applications for me?
No. The Democruit connection can prepare email content and organize your job-search records, but it does not send emails or submit applications to employers. Review the prepared materials, then use your own email app or the employer's application page. A job listed in your tracker is a record you manage, not proof of submission.
Why do I not see the connection option?
The option depends on the AI app, account type, region, and workplace settings. Check the provider's current instructions, and ask your workspace administrator if you use a managed account. This is separate from your Democruit plan. For Gemini, review the availability requirements in its setup section before trying again.
Can I disconnect whenever I want?
Yes. Open Democruit settings, find the assistant under Connected agents, and select Revoke access to stop future access through that connection. You can also remove Democruit from the AI app's connection settings. Information already shared with the AI app remains subject to its own history and privacy controls.
